Apologies for the late update—I've been battling a wicked cold and am just now feeling human enough to dive back into the world of design. This week's Spoonflower challenge was all about "Vintage Glamour Metallic Wallpaper," and it was a shiny journey!
For those dabbling in the new metallic wallpaper, the trick is in the design process: you leave white or negative space wherever you want that cool metallic effect to shine through (or so I'm lead to believe).
As I scrolled through the first page of entries, I have to admit, I wasn't super jazzed. There was a lot of gold and black, which felt a bit monotonous after a while. But the abundance of art deco and art nouveau styles—which I absolutely adore—kept things interesting. Remember, "vintage" can mean anything from 20 years ago, so the styles were as varied as the decades they came from!
After much deliberation, I settled on two favorites. "Glitzy and Ritzy" by suziness caught my eye with its fabulous detail and an awesome secondary pattern that really comes alive in the repeat.
Then there's "Midnight Garden – Art Nouveau Inspired" by charlotte_regan_, featuring a beautifully intricate design of interlocking blocks that just screams sophistication.
