This week’s Spoonflower design challenge was all about "Preppy Wallpaper Designs," drawing inspiration from Grandmillennial and Coquette styles. Now, I’ll admit, I had to look those up. Turns out, Grandmillennial is all about mixing modern vibes with retro flair, while Coquette leans into vintage, feminine, shabby chic aesthetics.
With a sea of argyle patterns and alligator motifs, it seemed like many folks went with the classic, older definition of preppy. But I decided to judge the designs with a different twist: if I moved into a place and this wallpaper was already up, would I keep it?
After scrolling through tons of entries, my favorite has to be “Chambray Ruffles” by jami_lay_designs. I mean, I can totally see this as a skirt (just flip it upside down!). It’s got that perfect mix of charm and style.
Can’t wait to dive into next week's Create-Everyday Design Discovery with the prompt "I is For…". Stay tuned and keep those creative juices flowing!
